It feels so nice to write and share the progress of our school

1) The first thing that I would like to share is something that has touched my heart deeply... Two children who have come forward with love to brighten the children at Gurukulam. Both of them celeberated their respective 10th birthday.....but with such a difference from a normal one. Trisha celeberated her birthday at the school itself and gifted all the children toys, every child went back with a smile. Rohan, at singapore, collected money instead of presents for himself and donated the entire amount to the children here. My heart goes out to both of them, and their parents for showing the way.

2) Our first sponsered lunch started and our children enjoyed a wholesome meal. Many more lunches have since then been sponsered and is going on with gusto.

3) The parent teacher meeting found us meeting each parent individually and every child discussed. We had a good turn out, 26 out of the 31 parents turned up. Again in the common meeting, the goals of the school were discussed and that we would take all the children to all the different places of worship to teach them to respect all religions was reiterated.

4) We have decided to come out with greeting cards for the coming season. We hope to raise money by sale of these cards. Again we have been blessed to see generosity flowing.... The first year students of M.O.P Vaishnav College have come out with 120 paintings and drawings for the cards. Ravi Shankar, the artist who has donated 30% of his sale proceeds to Gurukulam has again come forward to give a good part of his card's sale to the school. They should be circulated very soon. 5) Saraswathi pooja, a festival towards the Godess of learning was celeberated and the children had fun.

6) We have recieved a lot of toys for our children, specially from our well wishers in Singapore. Needless to say, it has brightened many a face. Whats been surprising me, is that all the children have been sharing and playing with the toys so happily.

7) The first medical camp has been arranged in Nov.

8) The art that the children are producing under the guidance of Mrs Sajitha Ravishankar keeps amazing me. They are put up in the notice board for all to see.

9) The kempo classes have been progressing well with Natalie Cornish joining in to volunteer. She has been a Godsend as our regular academic teacher has had to go on medical leave, and she has been working full time to teach the LKG section.
